Human–AI Agent Interface
As AI agents become actors alongside us, the way humans and agents interact will shape society, the economy, and each person's life. HAAI Lab studies and designs that interface.
Research areas
01
Agents now stand between people. Who speaks for whom, what can be trusted, and who is accountable must all be defined anew.
When an agent speaks for a person, what makes it trustworthy, and who answers for it?
02
The unit of work and exchange changes. Agents execute; people set direction and judge. How we connect the two will shape productivity and ownership.
What should people decide, and what should agents execute?
03
Many of the day's decisions pass through agents. What we hand off and what we keep decides what we focus on, and who we become.
Which decisions should a person never hand off?
If BCI connects the brain and the machine, HAAI connects the way humans and agents live together.
Principles
Agents will run more of the world's tasks. Direction, taste, and responsibility stay with people. We study where the line between the two should be.
The complex, compressed into the simple. We look for the simplest model that explains the most, and hold every interface we design to that standard.
The point of handing work to agents is not to do less. It is to stay in flow, in the zone where a person does their best and most original thinking.
HAAI Lab
The goal is not a world where agents replace people. It is a world where people stay at the highest point of their own lives.
